The Ashford Inn is named for Col. John Ashford who fought on the front lines at Gettysburg and Fredericksburg during the war between the states. Col. Ashford turned in his regiment to Gen. Grant at Appamattox and returned home to Clinton shortly afterwards. The Col. and his wife raised their family in this lovely home and were responsible for many of the renovations to the house that exist today.
